In this full-day tour, we will venture to the outskirts of Dhaka to visit Kakran pottery village and Dhamrai brass artisans area, and National Martyrs Monument. Although the use of clay pots has been declining, in Kakran, you can still observe skilled artisans are engaged making pottery – a trade that continuing since many generations. In Dhamrai, you also will have the opportunity to see the ways of producing brass utensils and religious objects created using the traditional lost wax method.
You will observe the colorful Hindu festival ‘RATH JATRA’ takes place during the Bengali month of Ashar (June-July). Similar to a Roman chariot, the large ‘Rath’, can be seen all through the year. On the way back to Dhaka, we will stop off at the National Martyrs Memorial, erected in memory of those who died in the Bangladesh Liberation War which brought independence from Pakistan in 1971.
