The meaning of Nijhum Dwip in English is the Island of Tranquility. This small island is an offshore island in the Bay of Bengal located in the furthest part of the South of Hatia Island which is detached by Hatia channel. This island was the part of Hatia for many years but was underwater level but in the year of 1972, this island upraised. Since then Bangladesh forest department started to plant mangroves and other kinds of the plantation.
Now, this island becomes heaven for the spotted deer, friendly monkeys, 35 species of bird which made this island a paradise for the tourist who loves to be in the serenity. This island has also got a beautiful white sandy beach, unlike Cox’s Bazar Beach which is very busy with the crowd. You can spend your morning and evening on the beach to rejuvenate your heart and soul
