The Historic Mosque City of Bagerhat is important evidence of a medieval city in the south-west part of present Bagerhat district which is located in the south-west part of Bangladesh, at the meeting-point of the Ganges and Brahmaputra rivers. The ancient city, formerly known as Khalifatabad, sprawls over on the southern bank of the old river Bhairab and flourished in the 15th century BC.

In the late 8th century the second king of the dynasty Sri Dharmapaldev built this monastery. In 1879 Sir Cunningham discovered this historical archaeological site. Then in 1985, UNESCO has declared this site as World Heritage Site. It was the most famous Buddhist religious center of Buddhism for three years. Read More20 kilometer away from Dinajpur district, on the bank of Dhepa River, under the Kaharol Thana and in the village of Nayabad the Nayabad mosque is situated. The area it occupies is almost 1.50 acre and the Bangladesh Department of Archaeology has restored this mosque. Recently there is a madrasa (Religious school) that has been built in front of this mosque. This mosque was built in the 17th century.
